Sometimes a blurry photo can be a blessing if you want to learn how to draw the human figure. You don’t get distracted by details and once you start putting in those details, you can use your imagination. After penciling from a (blurry) photo, I inked it with a fountain pen and cleaned the resulting outline digitally.
I admit, this isn’t a very appealing pose, but that’s the challenge. Make it work by putting in the effort. The penciling and inking took me four sessions (initial sketch, sketch refinement, inking, and digitally retouching) and around 2 hours. The digital file I’m working with is 3200 pixels square.
